Smarter Timelines, easier edits and more control over your notes

New Features

  • A Timeline that focuses on your real work. Long stretches of inactivity now fold into compact blocks, so your working time gets more room on screen. Click a block to see the full day, and hide it again when you’re done.
  • Edit entries without leaving your timeline. Click any entry to change its project, tags, Linked Work or note in a side panel. Drag across empty time to add a new entry. Nothing is saved until you choose Save, so you can cancel at any point without losing the original.
  • Notes on every entry. Every block on your timeline now shows its note, even short 15-minute entries. Entries without a note say “No note”, so you can see at a glance what still needs one.
  • Set the tone for everyone’s automatic notes. Workspace owners and admins can now choose how automatically written notes sound, using presets for tone, length and focus or their own custom guidance. Your team keeps writing consistent notes, and the guidance itself stays private to admins. Settings for entry length, daily generation and note language live on the same page.
  • Bring your own work items into Timely. Create and manage your own linked work items through the Timely API. They appear in the work picker next to your integration tasks, get linked automatically when their codes show up in your activity, and carry through to your reports and exports.
  • See who’s connected at a glance. The compliance dashboard now shows which calendar and email apps each person has connected. A red “Connection lost” label highlights anything that needs reconnecting, and it’s included in CSV exports.
  • Change rates from the date they actually apply. When updating someone’s billing or cost rate, choose an “Apply from” date. Only entries from that date onwards are repriced, which is handy when a rate is agreed at the start of the month but signed off later.

Improvements

  • More accurate Memory status on the compliance dashboard. Team members who have Memory set up but haven’t tracked recently now show as “Inactive” rather than “Not installed”.
  • Linear issues appear instantly. Issues created or updated in Linear now show up in Timely straight away, with no manual import needed.
  • Projects open like any other link. Right-click, cmd/ctrl-click or click as normal from the Projects list.
  • A more consistent look. Buttons, menus and dropdowns have refreshed colours in light and dark themes, a clearer keyboard focus outline and better text contrast.

Bug Fixes

  • Smoother dark mode. The app now opens in your chosen theme without a white flash.
  • Bullhorn labels in the browser extension. Labels now appear automatically, including in incognito windows.
