How it works
Connecting Trello to Timely is a workspace-wide integration. You'll need admin access in both Trello and Timely to set this up. Just head over to the Settings < Ecosystem section in Timely, select the ClickUp option, and follow the prompts to get connected.
Set it up your way
Pick whichever structure makes sense for how you work:
Standard mapping: Organizations → Clients, Boards → Projects, Cards → Tasks
Custom mapping: Boards → Clients, Lists → Projects, Cards → Tasks
The integration bends to fit your workflow, so you never have to change the way you work just to make it fit.

Everything stays in sync
Make a change in Trello, and it'll show up in Timely automatically. Create new lists, update cards, mark things as done - everything syncs in real time so your team stays aligned. When you mark a Trello card as Done, the task in Timely gets completed too.
All the details come along
Each task that syncs over includes:
- Card title, start date, and due date
- Labels (they become tags in Timely for easier reporting)
- Coming soon! A direct link back to the original Trello card
Labels become tags
Your Trello labels automatically turn into Timely tags, which makes filtering and reporting so much easier. You can quickly see how time's being spent across different categories and priorities.

Why this matters
Nobody wants to do the same work twice. With Trello and Timely connected, you don't have to recreate tasks, duplicate entries, or wonder where all the time went. You get Trello's visual boards plus Timely's automatic tracking, so you can see exactly what's happening with your projects and whether you're on track, all without changing a thing about how you already work.
Who'll love this?
- Companies that bill by the hour
- Digital agencies, consultants, and accountants
- Remote teams

- Project management consultants
What you'll need
To use this integration, you'll need a Timely Premium, Unlimited or Enterprise plan. Your workspace admin will need to enable it first, then everyone can connect their own Trello accounts.
Existing data from Trello will be imported based on your settings.
What Gets Synced:
- Organizations → Clients
- Boards → Projects (or Clients in custom mapping)
- Lists → Projects (in custom mapping)
- Cards → Tasks (only when assigned and have both start and due dates)
- Labels → Tags
Task Sync Rules
Tasks are only imported if assigned and have both a start and due date. This ensures that only actionable work items appear in Timely.
Tasks assigned to inactive or non-existing users in Timely will be imported as unassigned. Once the user becomes active, the task will be properly assigned on the next sync.
Data Safeguards
To protect your data and avoid duplication:
- Timely won't delete or change tasks if a Trello card is deleted
- Tasks won't be duplicated if items are renamed or moved in Trello after initial sync
- Newly created boards are automatically imported
